DW?

Anyone got an extra dreamwidth invite code? I want to go poke around over there. There seems to be a migration. What're y'alls thoughts on the LJ/DW divide? Where do y'all read fics at? Are there good/better/best ways to make fic accessible to everybody? I'm worried I'll lose track of comments if it's in multiple places, or that I'll lose readers. Is crossposting hard? I turn into a crotchety old person when I have to type in CODES and things. Well - more like a frustrated orangutan, honestly. Or Zoolander (the files are IN the COMPUTER?).

I'm thinking about trying to add the rest of my stuff to AO3 again. Last time I tried I ran away with my tail between my legs. I think it'd be nice to have it all in the same place. Just a lot of little nitpicky edit stuff to get it formatted correctly, without all my weird notes in the wrong places.

*sigh*

It's late, and hot, and I'm in a weird fucking mood. Tomorrow I think I will take a long walk with the dogs when I wake up, and listen to some history podcasts about the Peleponnesian War (IT IS MY FAVORITE WAR), and then go sit in a cafe and write. There's nothing I can do about housing for next fall. Still waiting for work to call me back about when I can start up again. So instead of fretting, I should write porn. Because that makes me happy.

I've been on DW for a year now; I have friends who co-exist on LJ and IJ and DW, or any two of those three. There are all kinds of different ways to span the gaps between the journaling services, and I'm happy to help point you to instructions for whatever choices you make.

For fiction archiving, I heartily recommend cross-posting a copy to the AO3 in addition to wherever else you choose to post it.

I'm a strong believer in the idea that diversity in fannish infrastructure (reducing dependencies on any one service) strengthens us all.

Check your email, I've just sent a DW code. :-)

If anyone else wants a DW code, there are plenty available via http://dw-codesharing.dreamwidth.org/

:-)

I read fic wherever, though I prefer reading/commenting at LJ or DW rather than AO3, not really sure why. I like the LJ/DW commenting systems better, I guess, plus I'm not an AO3 member.

I am on LJ, IJ, and DW, but I only really post to LJ (with occasional IJ crossposts); I don't use DW or read my flist there at all (because right now it only consists of a few LJ folks crossposting the same stuff they post here). I really don't think I can handle a third flist! :-P

I did a poll on my journal about where people like to read/comment on fic, and LJ came out on top -- but not surprising since it was an LJ poll. I have some of the same friends on DW (mostly).

Don't crosspost, but I transfer stuff over to that journal every few weeks. Crack van has linked to a fic of mine over there for a rec, oddly.

I joined DW and I'm not all that impressed with it. I mean, it's ok, but I don't see why it's that much better than LJ. They changed a few buttons around but ilooks just like LJ, only with limited access to the public to keep it from crashing as often.

Maybe the $3 a month makes a difference? Because right now I just sort of find DW kind of "eh".

I see you got a code ;)

I've had a DW acct for a while. Though with LJ recent problems (that seem to be on-going without notice etc) I've started to really play over there - even created a few comms including a DA comm. For fic, there are a few comms where people are posting (just not necessarily my fandoms/pairings). Overall LJ is still dominate, and I don't have a real problem with that, except I personally don't want to use DW as just a blank back-up journal for whenever LJ goes wonky. It was highly annoying when I couldn't get on LJ and looking around DW to find very little there & how much was linked back to LJ o_O was *frustrating!!*

So I decided to push DW a little more to post any future fics at DW, and in DW comms only, and just post a link in my LJ back to DW -possibly post the fic in LJ but locked private then unlock, a month or two down the road *shrugs* (still sorting out this idea)

I'd like to use both journals equally, but for now DW more so to post my fic.

I, too, am Zoolander. I also can't turn to the left.

Wherever your fic is, just tell me, and I'll be there! I'm 35, so I prefer not to have to learn anything new, LOL, but I would for your stories!!!

Have fun with your nice war. ;-) THEN GET TO THE PORN!
