Oh, life.

Last night I read "Visiting Hours" by rageprufrock. And apparently I should still be avoiding hospital fics. Especially ones about parents in the hospital. It is an incredible story, wonderfully written, a sequel to another amazing story, and I cried through the majority of it. If you're into Smallville and haven't read them yet, and have many tissues at the ready: GO AND READ.

In other news, I have officially decided: THAT I AM GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL. I got accepted, I spent a lot of days debating back and forth (should I go? Should I wait? Are other programs that much better? ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC), then yesterday I got into a conversation with one of my mom's friends about feminist interpretations of Greek tragedy and realized that: YES. I should be going to school for theatre, because it is indeed the thing I love most in the world.

You know what else in the world I love? TAYLOR KITSCH.





Who is apparently already signed up for another movie (...based on the game 'Battleships,' I am not kidding) where he will be action-y and beautiful and the movie's going to be directed by PETER BERG (Hancock was iffy but he did both Friday Night Lights the movie AND the TV show and thus I WILL LOVE HIM FOREVER). Seriously, I don't think I've squeed about FNL on here before - it is my favorite show. It is without question the best show on television. I love White Collar more from a fannish perspective - I want to write for it and talk about it and participate - but Friday Night Lights teaches me how to be a better human being. I WILL DO A FULL POST ON IT LATER, BECAUSE I WANT TO ILLUSTRATE MY SQUEE WITH PICTURES.

I'm so happy you decided to go to grad school! I'm sorry you won't have the internets, but that means I have a chance to recover from my toopid sinus infection and make sure all the typos are out of my fic for you (it ended up plotty! with bottom!injured!Peter! Yay for fevers :-D)

I can't read hospital fics either. Although for me the worst part was that after seeing my dad in medical restraints, there were a couple of months or so where I couldn't read bondage. You can IMAGINE how upsetting that realization was! In general though it's just hard to be vulnerable, especially to things that you didn't used to be vulnerable to. I always think about the part in Pilgrim at Tinker Creek where she describes the whales covered in scars and then says, "we are all the walking wounded." I didn't really get that when I first read it, and by now it couldn't be more clear.

Wow, this is a really depressing comment! On the bright side, mmmm, delicious Indian food. Also it is fabulous that you have a lip ring. Piercings and tattoos are my incredibly unsecret weakness. :D
