I'm really enjoying this story and I look forward to reading more.
The single jarring point for me was Pepper's nightmares. “My nightmares are very mundane,” Pepper says. ... “Silly stuff like getting lost in hallways, or showing up to board meetings without being prepared. Once I dreamed about looking for my keys every night for a month.” Pepper was kidnapped, forced to undergo evil experimentation that was shown as incredibly painful and which resulted in her requiring more medical experimentation to rectify - and her nightmares are about losing her keys? I think she's probably as qualified as either of the men for PTSD.
...“I save my nightmares for the day,” she says drily. “There’s really nothing I could dream up that would be worse than watching you all go into battle. I’m glad it doesn’t follow me into bed.” Again, I think you are trivializing Pepper's experiences and reducing them (and thus her) to less important than the experiences of the male heroes.
And other than that minor nit, I loved the way all three characters interact.
