Title: made this place a home
Fandom: Avengers
Series: Dyslexia 'verse (Comprehensive links at the end!)
Rating: R
Pairing: Clint/Coulson
Content Advisory: Clint dealing with grief and dyslexia (and some self-esteem issues about the dyslexia).
Notes: I can't believe this is actually finished. There may be filler parts later, or timestamps (I am working on an "Each Avenger Finds Out About Clint's Dyslexia" fic), but this is the end of the main arc. It's been over a year. Wow. If anyone ever wants to play in this ‘verse (like the lovely [personal profile] arsenicjade has) you are more than welcome.
Spoilers: This matches canon up to the Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premiere, and has spoilers for the first episode.
Thanks: Thanks to [personal profile] miriad for the wonderful beta, who made this part so much better (any remaining mistakes are completely mine). And thank you to everyone who's read this series and supported me through this process. It's been a crazy ride.

Summary: Coulson comes back from the dead. Clint's not sure how he feels about that.

Clint goes to the doorway, his arrow aimed at heart-level, and sees Phil leaning against his desk. )

Thank you for reading.

Title: Abel Had It Easy
Fandom: Avengers
Series: Dyslexia!Verse. Chronologically this comes first, but it also works fine as a standalone.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Child abuse and neglect, minor canon character violence and deaths (not Coulson’s!), and a character with dyslexia being treated insensitively. If you need more information about potential triggers, please PM me and I’ll be happy to help.
Pairing: Gen (later in the ‘verse, Clint/Coulson)
Notes: This is Barney’s side of the backstory, drawing heavily from Jim McCann’s series, Hawkeye: Blindspot, where he makes all the abusive backstory canon.

Summary: A lot of Barney’s stories started pretty much the same way. Dad was drunk, and then… And then, and then, and then.

“You learn also that life has a sick sense of humor. Everything it gives you can explode in your face. And like that, you learn you can be orphaned, over and over again.”
—Clint, from Hawkeye: Blindspot

Dad was drunk. )

Title: Past Tense [2/2]
Author: hoosierbitch
Fandom: Avengers
Rating: PG-13
Series: Dyslexia!verse (LJ tag here, DW tag here, or on AO3 here)
Content Advisory: Grief, depression, character with a learning disability, dealing with the (temporary!) death of a loved one. References to alcoholic parents.
Thanks: To [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk, as always.

Summary: Three months after destroyed landscapes and aborted kisses and painkillers that don’t work, Natasha’s gunshot wound heals enough for her to walk without a cane (a cane with a sword in it, an unexpected present from Hill) and Clint sleeps through some nights without the assistance of vodka and Natasha’s murmured lullabies.

Title: Moving Into Past Tense
Fandom: Avengers
Series: Dyslexia!Verse (found via LJ tag here, or on AO3 here).
Rating: PG-13
Content Advisory: Depression, loss of a loved one, and a character with a learning disability.
Thanks: When [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk takes over the world, I am first in line to be her minion. She beta'd, cheerleaded (whatever, that's a word now), and bullied, which is the only reason this got done. Thanks, bb.
Notes: THIS STORY WILL HAVE A HAPPY ENDING! #coulsonlives, y'all. Just not until the next chapter. (I never write unhappy endings. Just complicated ones sometimes.)

Summary: Loki’s gone and New York is as safe as it ever was. The city’s damaged, but it’s still here. They all are. The Avengers, capital letters so big that even Clint can hear them. The Avengers, and Phil The Avenged, who’s dead.

There is a war. )

Feedback is appreciated!

Title: Alright is Two Different Words [2/4]
Author: [personal profile] hoosierbitch
Series: Dyslexia!Verse
Rating: R
Notes: The first part of this series is As It Is Written. The second part, Things Ain't So Lonely Anymore, was written by the amazing [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade, and is now part of the canon. The first chapter of this part is here. (You can find them via my LJ dyslexia!verse tag, or on AO3.)
Content Advisory: Internalized and externalized homophobia and homophobic language, references to child abuse and neglect. If you need more information, please contact me.
Excuses: So, I’ve been stuck on this part for a long time, because after I posted part one, I realized I didn’t like the ending. So I deleted it. (You can still find it here, if you want to see the way things used to be!) Now, instead of the last chapter ending with Coulson asking Clint out to dinner and Clint accepting, this happens!
Thanks: [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk and [livejournal.com profile] alfadorcat did a lot of coaxing, soothing, and midwiving, before we even got to the betaing stage. Any remaining mistakes are all mine.

Summary: Coulson’s not safe anymore.

Clint books it into the closest vent entrance, secures it tight behind him, and crawls until he’s choking on dust. )

Title: Alright Is Two Different Words
Fandom: Avengers
Series: Dyslexia!Verse
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Clint/Coulson
Word Count: 4,100
Thanks: I had an amazing team of betas who helped me through this fic. [personal profile] arsenicjade[personal profile] alfadorcat[personal profile] miriad, and [personal profile] gnomi made this fic a lot better than it would have otherwise been. A special thanks for arsenicjade for talking me through the worst of my sequel-related issues. Any remaining mistakes are all my fault!
Summary: For most of Clint’s life, being able to read has been like being able to fly. Sure, it would be nice, and sometimes he’ll dream about what it would be like to have words or wings, but at some point he always comes back down to earth.

He is waiting for Coulson to change his mind. )

List o' Awesome:
1) [personal profile] arsenicjade has written a piece in my fledgling Avengers dyslexia!verse, and it is FABULOUS. I'm also working on a sequel (with AJ's encouragment and assistance, because we are writing braintwins) and her contribution is really inspiring. "Things Ain't So Lonely Anymore"
2) The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] fatum_sts has translated my Merlin fic To Command the Sea (the King of Camelot Remix) into CHINESE! How cool is that??? (My fic is a remix of [livejournal.com profile] mariana_oconnor's lovely fic, which can be found here.) You can read the new translation here! :-)
3) I saw National Theatre Live's re-broadcast of Frankenstein (with Cumberbatch as Frankenstein and Miller as the Creature) last week, and it was breathtaking. The physicality work was astounding. My jaw literally dropped. I'll be seeing it again in a few weeks, when they're going to show it with the leads in the opposite roles. So. Excited.
4) Summer Camp One is over! I'm working sporadically over the next few weeks, prepping for the course I'll be teaching and the show I'm directing, and bouncing around to different theatres in the area to meet people. I think it'll be nerve-wracking and boring in turn (because meeting cool people is scary, and also I am crap with unstructured time). I hope to do more hiking. B/c of DESERT.

Right. ONTO THE FIC:

Title: Mending
Fandom: White Collar
Series: Sneakers and Sheriff Badges. This is the fourth part, but can be read as a stand-alone!
Rating: PG-13
Content Advisory: Allusions to neglect and abuse.
Notes: This was written for the Whump-a-Palooza fest on [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarhc.
Thanks: I had two wonderful betas for this fic: [personal profile] neontiger55 and [personal profile] embroiderama! All remaining mistakes are my fault. Also, a special shout-out to ivorysilk, who's pretty much the entire reason that this is a 'verse, and not just that-kidfic-I-wrote-that-one-time.
Summary: Neal breaks his arm.

“Never mind,” Neal says, more of his head disappearing around the door, until he’s just a fluff of hair backlit by the Batman nightlight in the hall. “Go back to sleep. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” )
