hoosierbitch: (clint and tasha)
I babysat two adorable, sensible, rational and INCREDIBLY HIGH-ENERGY kids tonight, then came home and had some mango-guava-juice & citron-vodka cocktails.

Somehow I'm still REALLY AWAKE, so I've been watching Parks & Recreation. I have Ben/Leslee/Ann!feels. It's all the fault of [community profile] 3_shipsLeslee has an emergency cocoa kit (of course).

Also I was watching "Scrubs" yesterday morning while waiting for a phone interview, and had to stop, because it kept making me cry. Either I'm PMSing or comedy is Doing It Wrong. (Or Right. IDK.)

My little sister emailed me to ask for Ancient Civilizations reading recommendations, and I sent her an email that started out as a short list of rec's but turned into a giant essay. Basically:  The story of Inanna, Herbert Mason's translation of ""Gilgamesh," Thucydides (even though it's boring in parts), and "Iliad"-in-conjunction-with-"Achilles in Vietnam".

Real life is starting. (Although, as my mother would say, "School is real life. Everything you do while being alive is real fucking life." My mom's cool.) I went to Sharks After Dark yesterday with A Person I'm Dating, and a shark-with-a-nose-like-a-saw swam over us in a glass-hallway-tunnel. It was kind of the best ever. Except maybe these adorable seahorses were the best ever. I haven't decided yet. I have pictures which I will upload later, but suffice to say: the shark was awesome, but I think the seahorses were Peter & Neal. I have a regular babysitting gig, I think I'm going to get a part-time unrelated-to-anything-creative gig at an awesome theatre company, I start a full-time job on Monday, AND hopefully I will go to the Minneapolis Pride Parade on Sunday with The Person I Am Dating.

Pretty much everything in the preceeding paragraphs (except for my fondness for Herbert Mason and Thucydides) are relatively new.

I hope that one day I end up as happy as Lelsee Knope.

Notes: Almost exactly three years ago I had this really weird idea for a "Toy Story" AU. I finished plotting it in my head while watching "Carmen" the opera a few weeks ago, so. Somehow I made a fic about animated children's toys sad? IDEK.
Thanks: [personal profile] rabidchild67 did a lovely beta job for me! Thanks, hon!

Summary: When Jeff got a new doll for his birthday, Sheriff Peter Burke knew the hat-wearing conman was nothing but trouble. (Sheriff badge sold separately.)

Sheriff Peter Burke, Jeff’s first and only and best-loved cowboy toy, was not a fan of new toys. )
