DOG!

So my life's been pretty crazy lately--I'm working a full-time job at a call center (it's all incoming calls, mostly pretending to be a receptionist and scheduling appointments and taking messages). It's about as good as a call center job can be, but it still makes my brain sad. On top of that I'm working a part time job two-three nights a week--that one's actually making outbound "Gimme money?" calls, but it's working at a theatre that I love, with really nice coworkers and a lovely bossman.

Then I went to Canada for basically an entire week, because I want [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk to gay-Canadian-marry me so that I can move to Toronto and live in the basement with her bunnies. (We took a prom picture at Niagara, right under their perpetual rainbow, and it's actually engagement-card-announcement-level beautiful. Soon I shall turn her gay for me (that's totes possible, don't squish my dreams) and then steal her bunnies. Although soon I will not want to kidnap her bunnies quite as badly, because...

I'MMA GETTIN' A DOOOOOOOOOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*dance*

I'm picking him up later today from the Humane Society. He's some sort of scruffy minieature Schnauzer mix. He's 15 pounds of scruffy hair and snuggles. He was dropped off at a shelter in Kansas, which ran out of room, and so they sent him over to Minneapolis, where he climbed into my lap and started napping. They don't know anything about him. Except that at some point in his life someone named him Bowzer. That is not going to remain his name. No. Nu-uh. Not happening.

[The vast majority of these suggestions are from [livejournal.com profile] alfadorcat]

[Poll #1931067][Poll #1931067]

Now I'm off to Walmart to buy a crate, and clean my car out, and maybe use one of my IHOP GroupOns while I wait for thrift stores to open up, cause I need curtain rods and a king-sized bedsheet and any/all dog toys I can find. (I already have really cute water/food bowls.)

I'll post more soon (about the dog, and about my awesome roommates, and about my weird lease, and my on-hold dating life, and going back to Temple regularly). For now: a cool shower so I stop feeling like a melting children's toy, shopping, eating, DOG! :D

  1.  Anyone got advice on where to publish/submit/idek short erotic fiction for moneys? I want to do some original fiction, partly for the exercise and partly out of curiosity (it's been a really long time!), and I figure I might be able to make a little bit of money while I experiment. I'm down for F/F, F/M, M/M, ?/?/?, any genre. I think I'm going to stay in short fiction for the time being, because I suck at fics that are longer than 15k and I don't even want to think about mentally organizing an original fic that's that long.
  2. In related news: anyone up for beta-ing a F/M porny fic...? It involves female domination, crops, powerplay, and bondage. Because of yes.
  3. The job hunt is picking up a bit. I've applied to enough places that I'm starting to get a couple of bites. Ideally I want to end up with a 40hr/wk job with flexible hours, and then do random theatre gigs as they present themselves. Failing that, I'll take ANYTHING THAT PAYS ME MONEY, because of how I like to live under roofs and drive my car and eat food that isn't rice.
  4. Got housing for the fall locked down! Nice place. Big room, good location. 3-person, but the other people need my approval before they get to move in, because I wheedled the landlord. \o/
  5. I'm having to harass my roommate from last year. He owes me nearly $1,000 for utilities and he left his part of the house in such bad shape that we're not getting our security deposit back. I feel like Shylock. It is less than fun.
  6. I fuckin' love pickles.

A) Anyone know of any places where I can find/download/watch Season 1 of Arrow for free?
B) I really want to fall in love with Homestuck and Teen Wolf. I really do. Anyone have links to, like, manifestos or primers or some "THIS IS WHY OUR CANON IS AWESOME" posts?
C) Recommendations for movies with love triangles/threesome movies with happypoly endings? Googling "happy ending threesome" has gotten me a lot of awesome porn, but not so much scripted narrative...

D) Real life is going pretty swell. Following up some good leads for fall housing in cool neighborhoods, trying not to procrastinate writing cover letters for jobs I actually want, and dating/seeing/whatever-terminology-the-kids-are-using-these-days an awesome lady. :-) We have done dates. \o/

Thanks in advance advance for any help with the recs!

my subject line makes my life seem cooler than it is

my roommates are all international students

and i've only seen two of them

one of them keeps trying to talk to me in chinese.

there may or may not be a fourth roommate.

things i'm doing so that i won't sit in my room all the time (hi, depression!):
job interview tomorrow morning
sitting in a cafe right now
going for a rush ticket at the guthrie tonight
had breakfast with my brother this morning, doing a movie with him and his girlfriend tomorrow (it's his birthday. we're gonna see star trek. i am very okay with this.)
a date this sunday, with a sweet geeky guy. we're gonna do dinner at a veg restaurant and see 'gatsby.'

necessary postscript: i have dated, in the past seven years, a grand total of two people. (that threesome that time (okay, times) doesn't count. it was merely a lovely anomaly.)

i'm talking to two other people who i'll hopefully be meeting next weekend.

i have a new haircut that makes me feel cute, awesome boots, weird hipster shirts, a nice smile, and anti-anxiety medication. BRING IT, OKCUPID! \o/

now i am going to buy q-tips, call some apartment complexes (my sublease is up aug 10th), and go to thrift stores to find a blanket.

because blankets are cool.

I'M IN NEW YOOOOOOOORK!

I am out of TinyTown FOREVER! BWAHAHAHA! And now, thanks to her ridiculously kind gift of frequent flyer miles, I am in NY with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan, who has a beautiful house, comfortable beds, lots of outlets, delicious olives, and a generous heart. It's like fandom heaven. Later today we pick up the Taskmaster (I'm making up monikers now; it's a thing) [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk, who's had a heck of a time getting here (but really, what else did we expect from Canadians? ). Later today we'll be joined by the caravan of the pear-vodka-bearing [personal profile] rabidchild67, the editor-in-chief [personal profile] jrosemary, and the ninja masquerading as [livejournal.com profile] doctorfangeek. On Sunday we'll be joined by [personal profile] monkeyonthelam, who I have yet to meet, and is thus moniker-less. Although "moniker-less monkey" sounds pretty cool...

I hope that I have html'd everyone's names correctly and won't accidentally delete the whole thing again. /o\

Things I hope to do this weekend:
  • eat more of those olives, DAMN
  • get final betas entered and post chapter 4 of dyslexia!fic, then finish the next part and send it out
  • write hcbingo crossover
  • start/plan wcpairings fic
  • and then probably some porn, because really, the people who've friended me over this past year probably think I'm some studious kid!fic author whose only kink is insecurity. it's wrong to mislead them.
  • respond to comments, so i will be less of a terrible person
  • apply for two more jobs (apparently, moving to a new city requires money. what's up with that, minneapolis?)
Lovelovelovelovelove to all of you who can't be here in person. Hopefully we'll be able to do another open-meetup soon so that whoever wants to come can grab/share hotel rooms, and we can all porn hang out together. ♥

1. home for break, with all the good and bad that that entails. i love my family, but sometimes i have trouble maintaining my mental equilibrium--i'm so used to being in depressive patterns when i'm home that i have trouble pulling myself out of them. but mostly this visit has been going well! we'll see how tomorrow goes... O.o

2. still working on a couple clint/coulson fics. should be working faster. *kicks self*

3. do me! (is what my homework and grading are saying. SHUT UP.)

4. three items seems like a short list.

5. i'm making vegan pie crust tomorrow! and pumpkin dinner rolls! \o/ (i'm going to preemptively take the batteries out of the closest smoke detector. it needs an 'i like cooking but i'm new at this!' setting, instead of 'OH GOD WAS THAT A BREEZE OR ARE WE ALL GOING TO DIE MY JOB IS SO STRESSFUL' setting.)

6. i think being a smoke detector would actually be a horrible job.

7. huh.

List o' Awesome:
1) [personal profile] arsenicjade has written a piece in my fledgling Avengers dyslexia!verse, and it is FABULOUS. I'm also working on a sequel (with AJ's encouragment and assistance, because we are writing braintwins) and her contribution is really inspiring. "Things Ain't So Lonely Anymore"
2) The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] fatum_sts has translated my Merlin fic To Command the Sea (the King of Camelot Remix) into CHINESE! How cool is that??? (My fic is a remix of [livejournal.com profile] mariana_oconnor's lovely fic, which can be found here.) You can read the new translation here! :-)
3) I saw National Theatre Live's re-broadcast of Frankenstein (with Cumberbatch as Frankenstein and Miller as the Creature) last week, and it was breathtaking. The physicality work was astounding. My jaw literally dropped. I'll be seeing it again in a few weeks, when they're going to show it with the leads in the opposite roles. So. Excited.
4) Summer Camp One is over! I'm working sporadically over the next few weeks, prepping for the course I'll be teaching and the show I'm directing, and bouncing around to different theatres in the area to meet people. I think it'll be nerve-wracking and boring in turn (because meeting cool people is scary, and also I am crap with unstructured time). I hope to do more hiking. B/c of DESERT.

Right. ONTO THE FIC:

Title: Mending
Fandom: White Collar
Series: Sneakers and Sheriff Badges. This is the fourth part, but can be read as a stand-alone!
Rating: PG-13
Content Advisory: Allusions to neglect and abuse.
Notes: This was written for the Whump-a-Palooza fest on [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarhc.
Thanks: I had two wonderful betas for this fic: [personal profile] neontiger55 and [personal profile] embroiderama! All remaining mistakes are my fault. Also, a special shout-out to ivorysilk, who's pretty much the entire reason that this is a 'verse, and not just that-kidfic-I-wrote-that-one-time.
Summary: Neal breaks his arm.

“Never mind,” Neal says, more of his head disappearing around the door, until he’s just a fluff of hair backlit by the Batman nightlight in the hall. “Go back to sleep. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” )

1) The Grimm Kink Meme has mooooooooooooooved! (...to Dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeamwidth!). I will be camping out in a cafe all day pondering double penetration porn. And maybe also another White Collar kid!fic. But not at the same time!

2) At some point in the next day or two I'm going to go through my LJ flist and stop following all the people who I'm friends with on DW. If you have a DW account but haven't started posting there yet, please let me know so that I don't cut you and then miss you terribly.

3) CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME FIC! [personal profile] rabidchild67 wrote this awesome Grimm fic, What is Lost Can Never Be Saved, for the "Disappearing" square of her H/C Bingo card, and it is excellent. It's inspired by a Being Human episode about a werewolf fighting ring, but it's so much more than that. It's about Eddie disappearing from Nick's life, about the human side of Eddie being torn away from him when he's at his lowest point, and mostly it's about them putting each other back together at the end (okay, I may have cried a little, BUT MY ALLERGIES ARE REALLY BAD RIGHT NOW YOU GUYS). You should go read it. (RC--if you put this up on your DW, let me know, and I will add that link. :D)

3a) [personal profile] rabidchild67 also wrote a Grimm fic called "LJ Loses an Ear," which is: perfect. You don't have to know Grimm to appreciate it. An excerpt:

4) Um, so, if anyone was like "Hey, that [personal profile] hoosierbitch is barely a bitch at all most of the time!" and also you were thinking "Hey, look at this extra money I have!" and wanted to be like "I shall buy her some DW paid time!" then that would be rly cool.
