any recs?

Just got my period, so I'm bedridden for the day.

If anyone can think of any long (5k at the least) fics that revolve around insecurity/self-esteem/angsty-abusive-backstories, rec them please? They're like Midol for my brain.

A few fandoms I'm familiar with, and my fave characters in those fandoms: Avengers (Clint), Merlin & Merlin RPF (Arthur/Bradley), White Collar (duh, Neal), X-Men (Alex Summers), Leverage (Eliot), Str Trek Reboot (Kirk), or anything on my fandoms list. If in doubt, rec it? I am desperate...

ILU all.

This one might float your boat; it's Jim/Bones:

In for Repairs

Edit: I should maybe say why it's good, huh? It is an AU set during their first year at the Academy, and features a really fucked-up Jim who likes pain and is mighty self destructive in seeking it, and a Bones who just might be the guy to help him not only figure out why, but how to go about getting what he needs without potentially getting himself killed. It is hurty and awesome.

You wrote my favorite angsty backstory for both Neal and Clint ;D
And then [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild67 recced my favorite Jim/Bones backstory

But here are two more recs for Star Trek:

1) Waldorph's Illogical Series: http://archiveofourown.org/series/635
This is 23 separate stories about an AU Jim/Spock. Each from a different POV. Some of them are gut wrenching, all are well written.

2) Angelbaby1: Atlas. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5344838/1/Atlas
This sucker is long, long, long. It is completely over the top, completely au and Jim is superhuman in his ability to overcome any obstacle. It's also engaging, plotty and full of Jim whump. Sort of like binging on cheap chocolate. I love it.

Psh, aw, thank you. :-)

You know exactly the kind of story I'm looking for--Waldorph's series is one of my faves, I've read it all through twice. :-) The other one is a bit too over-the-top for me, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't read the whole thing...

Thank you so much for the rec's! Mwah!

Two of my favorites directly from my journal posts about them:

I have been devouring Avenger Tony/Steve fic. My focus is really this pairing only and my man Steve. I love how he's the man out of time. So I have to recommend a lovely portrayal of Steve and Tony pairing. This is from the Marvel big bang (and who knew about that - not me). It is In the Stillness of Remembering by elise_509. Tony and Steve are constantly at odds, trying desperately to understand the other and revolving around the point that they cannot accept - each other. The story starts out with them at cross purposes, then Steve's past comes to haunt him. He disappears and Tony follows after him. This is really a story focused on the characters and not just the Superhero part of it. Just when you think they've made the strides in the right direction, everything comes crashing down. Everything breaks a part and they are miles a part again. It takes the whole team to put them together again.

One of the most wonderful things about a good author is that they will sweep you away into their world and you will want more and more of it. Thus is the reason I am now hungrily devouring Avenger fic with Tony/Steve pairing (any rating - yes I am even reading fluff). The author is - of course the well known Shaenie. The series is Don't Look too Closely (all the angles are oblique) . I only decided to read the first story because it was written by Shaenie and I have a devotion to good (well extremely amazing authors). I read it and was hooked. This series is BDSM of the best sort.

Speaking of Shaenie, B, if you haven't read her WC/ST:AOS fusion fic "Breakdown in the Shape of Things to Come" yet, then what are you waiting for?

http://archiveofourown.org/works/376316

It's got plenty of angsty half-Vulcan Neal backstory plus mind-blowingly hot smex.

I 2nd, 3rd and 4th this rec. I avoided the ST fic cuz it's wasn't my thing, but Neal/Peter IS my thing, so I broke down and read "Breakdown...", and then, once I finished, I immediately starting reading it again. I have currently lost count of the number of times I've re-read the fic and it remains one of my all-time favorite fics kinda ever (there's a LOTR massive 30 part, with each part being multi-chaptered fic called "Greenleaf and Imladris" that is my all time favorite fanfic ever written). Anyone who is a Legolas fic fan should read it, but I digress...

"Breakdown in the Shape of Things to Come is amazingly, amazingly fantastic. Go! Read it now. Or, Re-read it now! ;-)

Hope you feel better!

A favorite whumped!Neal story for me is "Peter's Superpower". Despite the title, it is entirely from Neal's point of view. He's plotting to get something from Peter, and it's a fun fic, with some h/c to make it just right.

Hopefully it will make you smile! Peter's Superpower

Oh wait...it's not long enough for what you're looking for. But...maybe you'd still enjoy it?

One more edit. :p I hate to self-promote, but maybe you'd like

It's technically done, but I got it into my head that I should do an epilogue (which I never bothered to write), but it's long enough. It's not really related to security issues, but...

I fail at reccing things. Sorry.

Still hope you feel better! <3

Hugs on feeling so bad!

A lot of these have hurt/comfort or angst or self-esteem issues but also have plotty stuff etc too. (Fair warning that there's not much pure whump)

This is not that long but it's leverage crossovers - eliot has many threesomes but he knows he's just the guest: http://ladyjanelly.livejournal.com/202156.html

not all of these are long but they're Coulson/Clint or Clint/Coulson/other, and most have hurt/comfort:

http://archiveofourown.org/works/442655

http://archiveofourown.org/works/456317

http://archiveofourown.org/works/448149

this one is ageplay so i don't know if it's your cup of tea (usually i am a little squicked by this, but this was pretty well written IF you can get over any squicks)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/440364

AU where Clint is a HS student and Coulson is his principal so appropriate warnings apply: http://archiveofourown.org/works/443102

Mind the notes and warnings for triggers. These might not be spot on what you're looking for, but maybe in the gen area. Feel better!

Hope you're feeling better. If you're still looking for something angsty Remain Faithful by Auburn is great White Collar AU: Three years after Peter Burke caught her, Kate Moreau is dead and he's divorced and falling for her artist boyfriend, the prime suspect in her murder.
