List o' Awesome:
1) [personal profile] arsenicjade has written a piece in my fledgling Avengers dyslexia!verse, and it is FABULOUS. I'm also working on a sequel (with AJ's encouragment and assistance, because we are writing braintwins) and her contribution is really inspiring. "Things Ain't So Lonely Anymore"
2) The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] fatum_sts has translated my Merlin fic To Command the Sea (the King of Camelot Remix) into CHINESE! How cool is that??? (My fic is a remix of [livejournal.com profile] mariana_oconnor's lovely fic, which can be found here.) You can read the new translation here! :-)
3) I saw National Theatre Live's re-broadcast of Frankenstein (with Cumberbatch as Frankenstein and Miller as the Creature) last week, and it was breathtaking. The physicality work was astounding. My jaw literally dropped. I'll be seeing it again in a few weeks, when they're going to show it with the leads in the opposite roles. So. Excited.
4) Summer Camp One is over! I'm working sporadically over the next few weeks, prepping for the course I'll be teaching and the show I'm directing, and bouncing around to different theatres in the area to meet people. I think it'll be nerve-wracking and boring in turn (because meeting cool people is scary, and also I am crap with unstructured time). I hope to do more hiking. B/c of DESERT.

Right. ONTO THE FIC:

Title: Mending
Fandom: White Collar
Series: Sneakers and Sheriff Badges. This is the fourth part, but can be read as a stand-alone!
Rating: PG-13
Content Advisory: Allusions to neglect and abuse.
Notes: This was written for the Whump-a-Palooza fest on [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarhc.
Thanks: I had two wonderful betas for this fic: [personal profile] neontiger55 and [personal profile] embroiderama! All remaining mistakes are my fault. Also, a special shout-out to ivorysilk, who's pretty much the entire reason that this is a 'verse, and not just that-kidfic-I-wrote-that-one-time.
Summary: Neal breaks his arm.

“Never mind,” Neal says, more of his head disappearing around the door, until he’s just a fluff of hair backlit by the Batman nightlight in the hall. “Go back to sleep. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” )

Title: Super Awesome Magical Light-Up Fairy Shoes
Fandom: White Collar
Rating:: PG-13
Warnings: Implied child abuse and neglect, homophobia and internalized homophobia.
Series: Sneakers and Sheriff Badges. Part one is Home for Christmas, and part two is Second Chance. A third part, also starring kid!Neal, is almost done, and a fourth part (about older Neal in the past) is on its way. You don’t need to have read those in order to understand this, but it would probably help.
Notes: This was written for [personal profile] wickhouse2005, who left me a wonderful prompt here!
Thanks: Giant thanks to [personal profile] neontiger55 and [personal profile] embroiderama for the wonderful beta. And thanks, as always, to [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk, who is a kind and benevolent overlord, and is the reason why the kid!fic ‘verse exists.

Summary: For as long as Neal has known that he is different, he has known that it is a bad thing.

Title: As It Is Written
Fandom: Avengers
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Pre-Clint/Coulson
Warnings: The story's about someone with a learning disability, and there's internalized negativity about it as well as verbal abuse from other characters. There's also vaguely-alluded to unpleasantness with Trickshot, which I didn't get into because comics canon terrifies me. PM me if you need more information about potential triggers. ♥
Notes: This fic was inspired by Hawkeye's scene in the beginning of the Avengers, when he makes the observation about the Tesseract being a door. One of the positive things about dyslexia is that it can mean a person comes at a problem from a different angle.
Thanks: I want to internet-marry my betas, [livejournal.com profile] alfadorcat and [personal profile] miriad, who made this story so much better. Any remaining mistakes are all mine.

Summary: Clint is dyslexic.

The first time the teachers send a note home with Clint, about his problems, about how he’s dumber than the other kids, his dad’s not angry. He just laughs, which, Clint realizes, isn’t actually better. )

Title: Who's the Fairest Trade of All
Fandom: Grimm
Author: [personal profile] hoosierbitch
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Monroe/Nick
Word Count: 450
Notes: So, when I first got into Grimm, I did so because [personal profile] rabidchild67 was into it, and I fangirl her. Once I caught up on eps, I snuck into the meme, and filled a prompt anonymously just to get my feet wet--and it turned out to be one of her prompts, because of how she is funny and wonderful. ♥

Summary/Prompt: Nick seems to owe Monroe a lot of the time. Monroe will take payment in sex now, please.

You want me to come with you to chase a what now? )

Pairing: Nick/Monroe, off-screen Nick/Juliette

Title: My Brother's the Keeper
Fandom: X-Men First Class
Pairing: Alex/Sean
Rating: PG-13
Betas: The ever-fabulous elrhiarhodan, rabidchild67, and coffeethyme4me! [Uh, when I tried to make the names into links, LJ ate my entire post. Twice. O.o]
Notes: This was originally posted as an xmen_firstkink fill here.
Warnings: Internalized homophobia, homophobic language.

Prompt/summary: Alex and Scott aren't only brothers, they're twins. When Charles finally finds Scott, Hank seems to think that Scott is finally someone smart enough to talk science with and Sean seems to hero worship him. Slowly Alex starts to convince himself that he is the evil twin and that is why nobody likes him anymore. Over a few weeks he starts to withdraw from everybody until the gang finally figures it out.

Title: we will all learn
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hoosierbitch
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: X-Men: First Class
Pairing: Alex/Hank/Sean
Notes: This was originally written for a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kink , but [livejournal.com profile] rubynye has pointed out their innappropriate-for-a-kink-meme-anti-underage-kink stance. And there's only one Beast/Havoc/Banshee prompt on the much-nicer-but-smaller [livejournal.com profile] xmen_firstkink (HOW IS THAT?), and this don't fit it. So it is just here! The prompt was for these three boys finding a safe space together amidst the crazy that is their lives.

Summary: Sean has bad boyfriends.

*

The point of having two boyfriends was to avoid being alone )
hoosierbitch: (S Cranes)
Title: one thousand cranes
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Character death.
Notes: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] usakeh, who made a very generous donation at a charity auction a very long time ago (thank you for your patience!). This is a death!fic written by someone who avoids reading them. I did my best to bring as much reality and poetry to the subject as I could, and I hope that it comes across as honestly as intended.
Special thanks to: The always lovely [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild67, for the beta, and [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan, who loaned me the laptop that I used to write this.

Summary: Neal is dying.

He leaves the opened envelope on the table for weeks. )
